TWD Chocolate Spice Quickies

Yes, these are quick and it is great to have the rolls of dough in the freezer for a dessert treat, say with homemade ice cream or even little ice cream sandwiches (a Dorie suggestion). I just didn't have time this week for making ice cream sandwiches. That will be a treat for my friends when they return from their summer travels.
Dry ingredients including almonds, cocoa powder, baking powder, spice are processed.  Dorie suggests ground allspice or cloves. After reading comments by TWD bakers, I doubled up on the allspice that I used. Set the dry ingredients aside and process the sugar and butter, add an egg, vanilla and 2 oz. of melted bittersweet chocolate and then the dry ingredients. Easy and you are done! It makes a cohesive dough which is then rolled into two logs and refrigerated. Slice and bake. I sprinkled some cookies with crunchy Maldon sea salt and a few with turbinado sugar. Both were voted tasty. Check out the other TWD bakers at http://tuesdayswithdorie.wordpress.com/
Have a good first week of September - can you believe it?
Take care, lola

  1. I love the idea of something you can bake as you need it - fresh and hot from the oven.
