Bridget of The Way the Cookie Crumbles selected this "homey" dessert. I jazzed it up by adding 6 whole cloves and 3 cardomom pods. I made 1 1/2 of the recipe, as I was having a dinner party with an Indian theme. I really like lemon desserts, but this didn't seem as lemony as it could. If I make it again, I would add some more zest. I made this before the "comments" were posted. There were a number of good suggestions which I will try when I make this again. The cloves and cardomom added a great flavor jolt. I made the Caramel Crunch Bars again and served them with the custard. I think those bars are now a "favorite". Everyone loves them.
I am not sure why my photo is "pinkish". I did not add red food color or colored sugar. Oh well, that is "the way the cookie crumbles" sometimes.
I am sitting out next week - French Yogurt Cake. Wishes for a great week to a group of excellent bakers! I will see you for the Blueberry Crumb Cake. My New York honey will love it. I am serving a brunch on Sunday and plan to include it. lola
I love the plate that it is on.
ReplyDeleteSo cute.
I haven't been able to found cardamom pods in my area, you are so lucky. I bet that was a great combo, the cardamom and cloves with the lemon.
ReplyDeletecloves/cardamon sound delicious!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been able to find cardamom pods either! You are so lucky! Your plate is SO cute!
ReplyDeleteJennifer & Teanna, Thanks for your nice comments. For cardamom pods you might try an Indian store, if there is one in your area. Also, mail order - Penzeys spices is a great source.
ReplyDeleteGreat plate. Yummy looking desserts.
ReplyDeleteToo bad you're not making the cake - it's actually quite good.
ReplyDeleteI love the plate - perfect for the custard!
